What do I miss about lost Japan? Legendary Momoe Yamaguchi half naked in the «Izu Dancer» film? No, I don't think so. When I was big enough to go to a movie theatre and see the film, old Japan had already been lost. What Nobel laureate Yasunari Kawabata wrote in the original of the film was the class difference in Japan before World War 2. The post-war Japanese society could not allow a university student to give a generous tip to traveling dancers. Dancers were still despised by good housewives. Dancers travelled from a town to another still in 1970s. But by train or car. Students were no longer considered to belong to an upper class. It was almost impossible for a student to tip a dancer an amount of money big enough to surprise her, unless he went abroad and did it in a developing country.

Valley
Be the valley under the sky. (Ch.28)

♦  ♦  ♦

In Taoism, the valley means "vacuum", "void", or "emptiness".

"Emptiness" means Tao.

This is one of the keys to understand Taoism.

Be Tao because you are Tao.

Forget about your mind and body.

They are part of your hologram like clouds in the sky.

Valley under the sky
Be the valley under the sky. (Ch.28)

♦  ♦  ♦

The valley is void.

The void is Tao.

You are the valley, the void, and Tao.

If you forget this, you will be lost in your desires (=Mayoi).

Your desires don't belong to you.

They are like clouds in the sky.

Tao Te Ching Chapter 28-5
Attainment of constancy
Then, the attainment of constancy will never leave you.

(Ch.28)

♦  ♦  ♦

Tao is constant and omnipresent.

"The attainment of constancy 常得/徳 [jou toku]" means the attainment of Tao.

By accepting all the rest of the world (=your hologram), you can remember that you are Tao.

This is the attainment of Tao 道得/道徳.

In fact, Tao is always with you and never leaves you (because true You are Tao itself).

But, sometimes, you forget the fact.

It is the cause of all the sufferings.
